Job Description / Responsibility
  • Objective 1: To supervise implementation of the Out- Patient Therapeutic Programme (OTP) in official camps to ensure quality delivery of services to programme beneficiaries and adherence to programme protocols
  • - Ensure quality screening exercise do detect severe acute malnourished cases through supervising the taking of the anthropometric measurements at the nutrition Centre.
  • - Ensure adherence to OTP treatment protocol (therapeutic and systematic treatment) during service delivery to programme beneficiaries.
  • - Ensure proper record keeping of all the necessary information on the CCP or registration book, treatment sheet & follow up card at admission and discharge for each beneficiary.
  • - Ensure admission and discharge criteria implemented is correct and in accordance with standard protocol.
  • - Ensure availability of appropriate job aids such as admission/discharge register, reference table, antibiotic look up table, surveillance sheet, CCP, absent tracing form, and other format/tools in the OTP
  • Monitor and ensure proper identification of patient who needs to be discharged, transferred or referred to another programme (Supplementary Feeding Programme or Stabilization Centre and Mental Health and Care Practices
  • - Ensure quality dissemination of relevant health, and nutrition sensitization messages to programme beneficiaries care givers through use of Information, Education and Communication (IEC) materials.
  • - Act as a replacement of OTP nurse while they are on leave or any other circumstances
  • Objective 2: Capacity building of RHU medical staffs nurses, medical assistant and paramedics to effectively implement the Inpatient management of severe acute malnutrition with medical complication programme in the Stabilization Centre.
  • - Prepare a detailed plan action for effective SC implementation in consultation with the deputy programme Manager and the Hospital in Charge of both Camps.
  • - Develop relevant training materials as required for the RHU staffs under the guidance of the deputy programme manager.
  • - Organize and conduct formal and continuous on-job training for SC nurses, medical assistant, paramedics and other staffs on inpatient SAM management
  • - Organize orientation sessions for volunteers and Community Health Worker (CHW) on basic management of SAM and its importance
  • - Ensure all programme criteria are respected and documented ( admission, discharge and transfer to and from the OTP)
  • - Monitor and ensure timely and proper diagnosis and treatment of medical complication hypothermia, hypoglycemia, dehydration, severe anemia etc
  • - Ensure encouragement of breastfeeding through nutrition education sessions and initiate supplementary Suckling technique (SST) among mothers with inadequate breast milk or infants with breast feeding difficulties.
  • - Support RHU staff to Complete and update the patient files to ensure track and monitoring of patient progress
  • - Ensure availability of appropriate job aids such as admission/discharge register, reference table, , F-75/100 milk preparation chart, feeding schedule, surveillance sheet, CCP, absent tracing form, and other format/tools in the SC
  • - Monitor preparation of therapeutic milk (F100/F75) to ensure correct preparation and timely feeding to the SC beneficiaries.
  • Objective 3: To support in maintaining, controlling and follow up of supplies, usage and stock of therapeutic feeding products and drugs (F-75, F-100, Plumpy nut, ReSoMal and systematic medicines) used in OTP and SC.
  • - Ensure continuous availability of relevant drugs and therapeutic feeds at SC and OTP. Any foreseen pipeline breaks in supplies should be reported immediately to the Deputy Programme Manager.
  • - Ensure efficient utilization and consumption of available stock and maintaining a record of utilized stock.
  • - Check the batch number, expiry date, storage condition, documentations of therapeutic feeding products and drugs at regular basis; and share the findings/abnormalities with SPO-NUT
  • - Prepare weekly/monthly requisition order for therapeutic feeding products and medications and share with SPO-Nutrition
  • - Supervise use of nutrition/medical equipment/tools in the OTP and SC to ensure proper use.
  • - Identify the need for reparation or replacement of OTP/SC equipment/tools if they are out of order.
  • Objective 4: Ensure timely follow up and reporting on absentees, defaulter, refusal, relapse, non-responder and other specific cases in OTP and SC.
  • - Maintain regular communication and with OTP/SC nurses to identify absentees, defaulter, relapse, refusal and any other cases
  • - Liaise with SPO-Nutrition, APO-nutrition, MTL-RHU and volunteers to conduct home visiting and follow up sessions for the identified cases.
  • - Liaise with MHCP team to conduct joint home visits to identified deserving beneficiaries (Defaulters, those with static weight etc)
  • - Analyze the home visist and follow up findings, and initiate appropriate measure/action to ensure the identified gaps are addressed.
  • - Produce quality and timely periodic reports (weekly/monthly) and as will be required by the Deputy Programme Manager.
  • Objective 5: Data collection, compilation, analysis and report development
  • - Collect and compile the weekly/monthly statistics reports of OTP and SC and send it to the data entry officer.
  • - Prepare weekly/monthly requisition and utilization report of therapeutic feeding product and systematic medicines.
  • - Work closely with SPO-nutrition and DPM on monthly APR to incorporation of analysis of the situation and performance in OTP and SC
  • Objective 6: Coordination and collaboration with relevant Stakeholders
  • - Ensure efficient coordination and working relationship with RHU, RTMI, and other organization in relation to SAM management is developed and strengthened.
  • - Present the appropriate SAM cases upon Medical Referral Committee in the camps and influence the decision about the need for their referral to secondary/tertiary treatment facility on medical ground.
  • - Keep close contact with DPM/PM and report any incident/need for better coordination with RHU.
  • Note:

  • - Strong flexibility is required in terms of mobility and working hours.

Additional Job Requirements
  • Only females are allowed to apply.
  • - At least 1 year experience in the hospital set up, especially IMCI/paediatric/child nutrition/ANC-PNC
  • - Good organization skill and ability to work in a team.
  • - Good communication, coordination and negotiation skills with partners at camp level
  • - Understanding and speaking ability in local language is a plus
  • Desirable:
  • - Experience in implementing Community based Management of Acute Malnutrition (CMAM) programme with a focus in Out-Patient Therapeutic Programme and Stabilization Centre.
  • - Experience in training of health staffs (nurses, medical assistant, paramedics, MLSS and others)
