Job Description / Responsibility
- The project Gender Equity Officer is responsible for providing technical input into the work of Access to Health and Education for All Children and Youth with Disabilities (AHEAD) in Bangladesh.
- This includes working with the different participants and stakeholders to ensure that gender issues are appropriately addressed in all aspects of the AHEAD. This will include:
- developing approaches that are conducive to improving equity between girls and boys, women and men in the Project activities;
- delivering gender-related workshops, trainings, and awareness-raising events targeted at project personnel, local partners, and community/project stakeholders;
- conducting gender-related research assignments, analysing project data as it relates to gender, and preparing reports of gender activities.
- This position requires liaising with the Project Management and Technical Team members, local stakeholders, government representatives and international partners. The local Gender Equity Officer will work closely with the Country Coordinator, Project Director and Project Manager. The Gender Equity Officer will report to the Country Coordinator, Project Manager and Project Director.
- The Gender Equity Officer will adhere at all times to the provisions of the DFATD Procurement Handbook for Goods and Related Services, and the Treasury Board Guidelines and the rules governing objectivity, independence, anti-corruption and conflict of interest. The performance of the Gender Equity Officer will be reviewed annually against the above provisions by the Project Manager.
- Tasks/responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Develop gender and disability inclusive approach and plan of action for the Project in
- order to ensure appropriate application of gender in all aspects of the work;
- Create a framework for incorporating gender based analysis (GBA) into project activities;
- Review project activities to suggest where gender issues can be highlighted and strengthened;
- Identify where position papers on gender issues can contribute to project work;
- Coordinate the collection and analysis of gender-related data;
- Identify and develop models that will contribute to overcoming the cultural and regulatory biases that act as a barrier to achieving gender equity;
- Liaise and share information with AHEAD beneficiaries, Government officials, and those working with local and international agencies, projects and NGOs;
- Attend meetings relevant to the project, as determined by the Project Manager and Project Director;
- Review and integrate gender component into training materials and deliver trainings and hold workshops with relevant groups;
- Ensure gender-sensitive performance indicators are embedded in the Project and remain integral to primary health care policy after the completion of the work;
- Liaise with Local DFATD Gender Officer when requested by Project Management;
- Support AHEAD project team in activities when required;
- Other responsibilities as required.

Educational Requirements

Gender Equity Officer will
have a Bachelor's degree in Gender, Women�s Studies, or another field
directly relevant to the position.
Additional Job Requirements
- The Gender Officer must be proficient in written and spoken English and Bangla, and have good communication and computer skills.
- Gender Equity Officer will work as a member of the Project Team and will be directly supervised by the Country Coordinator, Program Manager and Project Director. The Gender Equity Officer is required to keep accurate records of time worked on the Project.
