Job Description / Responsibility
- BRAC Institute of Governance and Development (BIGD) has been formed through the merger of the erstwhile Institute of Governance Studies (IGS) and BRAC Development Institute (BDI) of BRAC University. This specialized institute of BRAC University is a center of research and academic excellence. BIGD is devoted to research on governance concerns as they as they relate to development, while also conducting research on a range of development issues. BIGD promoted the creation of knowledge primarily around the themes of governance, economic growth, inequality, political economy, urbanization and sustainable development, gender issues and regional studies. It also conducts post-graduate academic courses and provides several training courses.
- Senior researchers are the prime drivers of the research effort of the institute.
- The institute needs a competent Research Fellow who will undertake some major research and other affiliated responsibilities.
- Contribute in a substantial manner in major research projects.
- Act as 'In Charge' or 'Coordinator' of research project/s, if assigned.
- Write chapter/s for research report/ outcome.
- Review chapter drafts/ working papers.
- Write research proposals and contribute in developing research concepts.
- Liaison for international and local research collaboration and funding.
- Write working papers.
- Write short and long papers in line with BIGD's work.
- Guide and supervise junior researchers.
- Participate in seminars, workshops, conferences, round table etc, write papers for these events and make presentations.
- Undertake academic assignments at BIGD including teaching academic courses, part of course/s, supervise dissertation / thesis etc.
- Any other task assigned by the institution.
- Any other programme/ project related task as assigned by the institute.
- Job Nature: Contractual (Initially for 12/24 months). Contract may be renewed on the basis of the performance and availability of fund.
- Job Location: Dhaka, frequently field visit outside in Dhaka.

Social Science or Humanities field from any reputed university abroad or
Masters from abroad with 5 years of strong research experience and 4
publications or Masters from a Bangladeshi University with 8 years of
strong research experience and 6 publications.
